To All Parents, Students and Visitors

This blog is for homework and instructions.
I would sometimes display work done by students in jpeg or slide. Please note that all work displayed is in the raw state, used to inspire or as springboards to class discussions. Please exercise care when commenting on this blog as it is a working blog for students.

To students

Please visit this blog two days before your lesson. I would post homework and instructions on Tuesday, after 8.00 pm. All homework completed to my satisfaction and brought on the day of the lesson will be given the homework star, which may give you an advantage. However, tardy homework will get not get the homework star at all.

This site is for Sec 1E3. However students from other classes are welcome to visit and follow this blog for updates and clarification of homework, assignments, weekly lessons and projects for 2010.

Homework Task for 1E3

This term we are learning poetry. The video that you had just watched in the above post is an animated version of the Shel Silverstein poem "Where the sidewalk ends." It is a mysterious poem, full of hope and good things.

You can watch the video, which is helpful and also read the poem.

Homework Task 1.
1. What do you think is the THEME of the poem and why?
2. What is the poet saying in the 1st stanza of the poem?
[A stanza is like a paragraph. So this poem has 3 stanzas]
3. What is the poet saying in the 2nd stanza of the poem?
4. Are the 2 stanzas different? if so why?

Homework Task 2
Illustrate/Draw the poem in a piece of white paper or drawing block A4 size.

Complete Homework Task 1 and 2 on the same piece of white paper or drawing block.

Homework Task 3
NB: Remember you also have the simile homework to do in your Literature Note book.

Good Luck.
